Ravi Shastri named Indian Cricket Coach

When a healthy relationship comes to an end, everyone related to the pair start talking about it. And when that everyone is 1.5 billion people, you are bound to get a little overwhelmed with the amount of reports, interviews and rumours flying around.

Virat Kohli has been scrutinised to the core for forcing Kumble to step down as coach, due to the increasing differences between the duo. But reports suggest that it was not just Kohli, but ten other players as well who were not quite happy with Kumble’s methods.

The Indian Cricket Team is currently in the Carribean for the Windies tour and Kohli was once again in the spotlight yesterday when he addressed the media before the 3rd ODI.

With Ravi Shastri putting in his name amongst the prospective coaching options, the onlookers felt that his bonding with Kohli would make him the prime choice for the job.

When asked about the extent to which his opinion would matter, Kohli said that he would express his views only if asked to.

“From a personal point of view, I can’t pinpoint anything or give any details. We as a team only voice our opinion when asked by the BCCI,” Kohli said.

“Suggestions are given to the BCCI. There is no point in saying anything out in the open because that is for us as a team to convey to the BCCI as when we are asked” he added.

Kohli then went onto say that the team is entirely focussed on winning the ongoing series.

“Right now, we have series at hand and this is what we are focussed on. The process is taking place and that is something which is in the control of BCCI. We are not focussed on anything else at the moment.”

“Our priority is coming here and winning the series and preparing for the game that lie ahead of us,” the Indian captain said
