"Garbage Knocks": CSK Fans Lash Out at Ravindra Jadeja For Poor IPL 2023 Batting in Death Overs

Fans of Chennai Super Kings are fed up of former captain Ravindra Jadeja‘s batting form in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. The frustration has elevated to a level where they aren’t mincing words to describe the southpaw’s form. Multiple tweets of criticizing nature were there to be seen during CSK’s last league match at their home ground against Kolkata Knight Riders tonight.

Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 12th over, Jadeja had enough time to get his eye in before playing the attacking shots in a much-needed scenario. While Jadeja nailed the first part around taking his time, he failed to change gears which saw him getting severely criticized on social media platform Twitter.

Jadeja, who got out with only a couple of balls remaining in the innings, even allured calls of “retired out“. Having scored 20 (24) including a six, the left-handed batter’s innings in the second half at a strike rate of 83.33 even hampered the progress of all-rounder Shivam Dube (48*).

Although Jadeja had recently taken a dig at fans present at the MA Chidambaram Stadium for cheering against him to see beloved captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2*) bat in the death overs, his current batting form will soon witness fans cheering against him due to genuine reasons.

Ravindra Jadeja IPL 2023 Runs

In nine innings of the 16th season of the IPL, Jadeja has scored 133 runs at an average of 19 and a strike rate of 127.88. While the average isn’t much of a concern, the 34-year old player’s strike rate is concerning especially for a No. 7 batter.

Jadeja, however, is only behind Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal in the list of most number of Player of the Match awards this season. Having won three such awards thus far, Jadeja is the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker with his 16 scalps coming at an average of 19.18, an economy rate of 7.13 and a strike rate of 16.12.

As pointed out by a fan in the aforementioned tweets, Super Kings could try using Jadeja as an Impact Player in order to bat a specialist batter in his place in the remaining matches.
