"Gone Into Orbit": Kyle Mayers Smashes Towering Six Off Gurnoor Brar to Leave LSG Teammates Slack-Jawed in Mohali

West Indies and Lucknow Super Giants Southpaw batter Kyle Mayers has kept justifying his selection in the side so far, forcing the franchise think-tank to keep someone like a Quinton de Kock in the sidelines in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League.

During the ongoing match at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali against the home side Punjab Kings, Mayers smashed his fourth half-century of the season, in mere 20 deliveries this time around to provide an ideal foundation for a huge total.

After PBKS debutant pacer Gurnoor Brar bowled a quiet first Over, the 30-year-old made up his mind to press the accelerator button without wasting further time, and hit Arshdeep Singh for 17 runs in his very first Over.

There was no stopping for the left-hander from there on, as he treated Gurnoor too the next Over with similar disdain, collecting 16 runs off it.

With Mayers having opened up his arms already the previous Over, the last thing Gurnoor would have hoped for while bowling his second successive Over, was to bowl a No Ball and bring the former on strike to face the Free Hit delivery.

Mayers, in all readiness to thwack the Free Hit ball wherever Brar would have bowled it, got a slower delivery outside the off-stump and in his zone to clear the front leg for a leg-side hit.

Down on one knee, he threw the kitchen sink at the delivery and sent it high into the night sky towards the deep mid-wicket fence, into the crowd for a maximum.

The commentators, the crowd, and his LSG teammates in particular, including the likes of Ravi Bishnoi, Quinton de Kock, and Jaydev Unadkat had their jaws wide apart in disbelief while tracking the height and distance the ball had travelled.
