“Handsome Ladka Nahi Dekha Kya Aapne?”: Fan Unabashedly Eve Teases IPL 2023 Cheerleaders at Sawai Mansingh Stadium

In yet another episode of what majority women go through almost everyday in public places, a so-called fan at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur provided a demonstration of how low men can stoop for a few moments of pleasure in the garb of entertainment.

The incident took place during the Rajasthan Royals versus Gujarat Titans match in the ongoing 16th edition of the IPL last Friday (May 5).

A group of cheerleaders for the two teams, were perhaps waiting in an enclosed area outside the ground for the gates to open before the start of the match. They were, however, surrounded by the spectators on either sides.

As seen in the video posted by a Twitter user, some people were merrily taking pictures of these cheerleaders on one side, while the other side (from where the video was being shot), a person was heard passing lewd comments on these women.

This particular spectator, initially seemed like an innocuous person trying to have the attention of the cheerleaders, as he was heard shouting words like ‘hello’ and ‘hi’.

He was indeed successful, as one of the Gujarat Titans cheerleader did wave her hand at him, most likely because he was shouting on top of his voice. However, he soon went like, “Aapko hi dekhne aaye hain hum, match to kabhi bhi dekh sakte hain [I’ve only arrived here to see you, I could’ve watched the match on TV as well].”

While the RR cheerleaders (who were much closer to him) did not pay any heed to his comments, the one who had his attention, too, sensed the creepy tone to his comment and decided to look forward towards the gate.

Meanwhile, the camera focuses on three other GT cheerleaders, one of who was seen looking at this guy with an expression of disgust on her face. However, despite that, the guy remarked, “Dekho line maar rahi hai vo, handsome ladka nahi dekha kya aapne? [Look, she’s trying to woo me. Haven’t you seen a handsome boy before?].”

Are cheerleaders really needed during IPL matches?

The above incident is indicative enough as to what purpose these cheerleaders actually serve during IPL matches – to act as titillating objects for the male gaze.

The intensity with which the cricketers play on the field, the last thing they would need is half-a-dozen women dancing for them after a boundary or fall of a wicket in order to motivate them.
