"I Felt Like Punching Him": Rohit Sharma Once Recalled How Ravindra Jadeja's Actions Could Have Resulted In A Cheetah Attack

India captain Rohit Sharma is one of the most chilled-out cricketers around. It is always fun to watch interviews of Sharma as speaks in his own casual way. While talking to Vikram Sathaye on the show ‘What the Duck’, he once revealed why he wanted to punch India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Sharma was along with fellow batter Ajinkya Rahane and both of them recalled a jungle safari they did together. In 2018, India toured South Africa for an all-format series. During the tour, Sharma and Rahane along with their respective wives and Jadeja tried to experience the thrill of the wild.

‘Walking with Cheetahs’ was the name of the activity. Rahane thought that there will be some Cheetahs and all of them will be walking behind them, but on the contrary, they were in the middle of a forest. While traveling, they caught a couple of those animals who had just caught their prey. What Jadeja did later angered both Sharma and Rahane.

It is said that the wild animals should not be disturbed while they are eating. Although, Jadeja was in his zone and he started making weird noises. Sharma recalled that the animals were staring at them and they were all very scared about the same as they could have attacked them.

Sharma was so furious with Jadeja that he wanted to punch the spin all-rounder. All of them were instructed to stay still in these situations and they followed the same as well. Sharma, however, called it as one of the best experiences of his life and insisted that they should have left Jadeja at home.

“The moment [Ravindra] Jadeja started making noises, those cheetahs turned around to look at us,” Sharma had said.

“At that point in time, only I know what I was going through. I looked at Jadeja angrily and I felt like punching him. But then I thought that it was necessary to stay calm at that stage.”

Ravindra Jadeja Was Fined INR 20,000 For Clicking Selfie With Lions

In 2016, Jadeja and his wife posted pictures of themselves with the endangered Asiatic lions. Both of them went to the Gir National Park in Western Gujarat and the incident happened just a few days after the forest officials warned tourists about the risk of taking selfies with lions.

Jadeja was fined INR 20,000 for breaching the rules. It is to note that the Gir National Park is the only place where Asiatic lions exist. As he was not a regular offender, the case was closed with the penalty only.
