The 3rd test of the Australia and South Africa test series at the Sydney Cricket Ground is heavily impacted by rain, and the first two sessions of day three are already washed out. It will be tough to get a result here, but the batters of the Australian side have been excellent so far.

Australia’s score is 475-4 and Usman Khawaja is unbeaten at 195 runs, he will aim for his double-century. Steve Smith also completed his century, where he played an excellent knock of 104 runs. This was Smith’s 30th test century, and he is just behind Ricky Ponting (41) and Steve Waugh (32) is scoring the most test centuries by an Australian.
Smith is certainly one of the bests to ever play the game and his records in test cricket are enormous. He has played in 92 tests, where he has scored 8647 at an incredible average of 60.89. Smith has smashed 30 centuries and 37 half-centuries so far.
Steve Smith rubbishes Test retirement murmurs
Steve Smith was talking to Fox Sports during the rain break in Sydney, where he talked about the murmurs of his test retirement. Recently, Smith said that he was not sure about what the future holds for him, and he is just taking one series at a time. In 2022, he also hinted that he may retire earlier than people think.
However, Smith has rubbished all the retirement news going around for him. He said that he is comfortable with everything at the moment, and he is not going anywhere. Smith insists that he is still very hungry for scoring runs, and he has no plans to retire from any format of the game.
“I’m always very cryptic with that (retirement) stuff,” Steve Smith said to Fox Cricket.
“But I’m not going anywhere, I’m comfortable with where everything is at, we’ve got a few good tours coming up, I’m excited, and I’m still trying to get better.”
“Whilst I still have that hunger and eagerness to try and improve, particularly to help some of the batters coming through … while I’m doing all that I’m enjoying myself and I have no plans for retirement.”
The kind of form in which Smith is in, he will definitely be looking to play for some more years and break the record of Ricky Ponting as well of most test centuries for an Australian batter.
