India tour of England 2021: India to play five Tests in England as ECB releases provisional 2021 summer schedule

India tour of England 2021: India and England are all set to play 10 Test matches against each other in the year 2021.

ECB (England Cricket Board) has announced the provisional schedule of their grand summer for the year 2021. At this point in time, England will host Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India next summer.

With uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic, schedules are highly likely to be changed going forward. With the inaugural ICC World Test Championship also to be played in the next English summer, the finalists for the same will also have an impact on the scheduling.

Having suffered significant losses due to COVID-19 pandemic this year, ECB would be hoping to put on display a stellar summer season next year to recover losses.

“We had an amazing summer of international cricket this year with some memorable performances, and we know how much enjoyment it brought to people whilst staying at home,” ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said in a statement.

According to the provisional schedule, Sri Lanka will travel to England for a three-match ODI series to commence their summer. Pakistan, who will host England for two T20Is in October 2021, will also travel to England for three ODIs and as many T20Is.

It is worth mentioning that Sri Lanka might also play other formats in England especially if England don’t qualify for the final match of the World Test Championship.

The high-profile contest of the next English summer will that be between England and India. Set to play a five-match Test series in either of India or UAE, the two teams will again lock horns which will account for them playing 10 Test matches within eight-nine months next year.
