As many as 405 players will wait with bated breaths come tomorrow, hoping against hope that one of the ten franchises might have seen some spark in them, and provide the opportunity to rub shoulders with the best in the game in the most coveted T20 league in the world.
Having said that, these players also realize the fact that only 87 slots are to be filled up, despite the franchises possessing a swelled up collective purse limit of INR 206.5 Crores spend on them.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), with 13 slots remaining to be filled and INR 42.25 crore to spend at the auction table, are expected to be the busiest franchise tomorrow.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand might perhaps have a lot of brainstorming to do at the table as they not only have the least purse limit amongst all the franchises, but also have 11 available slots to be filled.
IPL highest bid player all time
Some big names in Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Sam Curran, Harry Brook et al are expected to attract the maximum bids from the ten franchises tomorrow at the auction table.
It will, however, be interesting to see whether or not the aforementioned names manage to break the record currently held by the South African allrounder Chris Morris, for the highest ever bid of all time in the IPL auction history.
Morris, ahead of IPL 2021 mini auction, was roped in by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the amount of INR 16.25 Crore, after coming up with impressive performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2020.
UPDATE: England all-rounder Sam Curran has earned a record bid of INR 18.5 crore from his previous franchise in Punjab Kings followed by Australia all-rounder Cameron Green earning INR 17.5 crore from Mumbai Indians.
