IPL trade players 2021: How many players have been traded ahead of IPL 2021 auction?

IPL trade players 2021: A total of three players were traded during the three-week long trading window before IPL 2021 auction.

The auction for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League will begin in less than 12 hours in Chennai. It is that day of the year when fortunes of many overseas and domestic cricketers could be changed depending on how much interest franchises show in them.

It was almost a month ago on January 20 when franchises had revealed their lists of retained and released players ahead of the auction. The deadline day was followed by a three-week trading window which had witnessed only three players moving to new franchises for IPL 2021.

Fans must also note that an addition trading window will open a day after the IPL auction to give franchises another chance of fine-tuning their squads. In what will be the last trading window, it will be open till a few days before the season starts in April.

During the trading window, Delhi Capitals had traded the all-rounder-duo of Daniel Sams and Harshal Patel to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals had traded batsman Robin Uthappa to Chennai Super Kings. All these trades were all-cash deals.

Sams, who made his IPL debut in the last season, had been roped in as England batsman Jason Roy’s replacement. The Australian left-arm bowler remained wicketless in the three IPL 2020 matches he played.

Patel, on the other hand, had played five T20s for Capitals last season picking three wickets at an average and economy rate of 44.66 and 8.93 respectively. Patel, who had picked 12 wickets in as many matches for Delhi at 31.50 and 9.33 across three seasons, will now return to his previous franchise.

Uthappa, 35, had a terrible maiden season at Rajasthan Royals last year. In 12 matches, the veteran batsman only scored 196 runs at an average and strike rate of 16.33 and 119.51 respectively. Been playing the biggest T20 league since its inaugural season in 2008, CSK has now become Uthappa’s sixth IPL team.
