James Anderson first-class wickets: Twitter reactions on Jimmy Anderson picking 1000th first-class wicket

James Anderson first-class wickets: The veteran English pacer has picked his 1,000th first-class wicket in the ongoing County Championship 2021.

During the second day of the ongoing Group 3 County Championship 2021 match between Lancashire and Kent in Manchester, veteran Lancashire fast bowler James Anderson has become the latest entrant into the 1000-wicket club in first-class cricket.

After Lancashire captain Dane Vilas won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat first at the Old Trafford, Anderson ran through Kent’s batting lineup to play a pivotal role in bundling them for 74 in 26.2 overs.

Starting with dismissing his English teammate Zac Crawley (0) in the first over itself, Anderson didn’t look back as he registered a five-wicket haul in his seventh over. Kent, who had lost half their side in the 13th over, had no answer whatsoever against an in-form Anderson bowling in favourable conditions.

Anderson, who had 995 wickets under his belt at an average and strike rate of 24.85 and 52.30 respectively before the start of this match, not just picked his 51st five-wicket haul but also his career-best bowling figures in the format.

Bowling from the James Anderson end, the 38-year old right-arm bowler delivered 10 overs on the trot to pick bowling figures of 10-5-19-7 in a phenomenal effort.
