Longest Six of IPL 2023: CSK's Shivam Dube hits mammoth 111-meter 6 vs RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium

Chennai Super Kings batter Shivam Dube appeared to be a on a mission to hit gargantuan sixes in Indian Premier League 2023 Match 24 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru tonight.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 right before the halfway mark, Dube scored a sixth T20 half-century comprising two fours and five sixes to put on display an absolute big-hitting spectacle.

It was only on the fifth delivery that he faced that Dube hit Royal Challengers all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (1/28) for a towering six which saw the ball hitting the roof at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

It wasn’t much long before Dube hit the second-longest six of IPL 2023. Only the eighth delivery that he was facing, the left-handed batter thwacked a mammoth six off Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel (1/36).

Although it is not always easy to hit such a massive six off a full-toss, Dube managed to dispatch the ball way into the stands over the long-on region. Replays confirmed that the 29-year old player had hit a 111-metre six.

Not stopping at that, Dube subsequently hit sixes of the remaining pacers namely Mohammed Siraj (1/30), Vijaykumar Vyashak (1/62) and Wayne Parnell (1/48) to end up scoring 52 (27) at a strike rate of 192.59. In what was his fourth IPL half-century, it was brought to an end after Dube hit a Parnell delivery straight to Siraj at deep mid-wicket.

It is worth a mention that Dube’s 111-meter six is only second to RCB captain Faf du Plessis‘ 115-meter six against Lucknow Super Giants at the same venue exactly a week ago. Having already hit a 102-meter six against Super Giants, Dube now has two of the three biggest sixes of IPL 2023.

Other than du Plessis and Dube, the likes of Rinku Singh (101 meter) and Venkatesh Iyer (101 meter), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (101) and Nehal Wadhera (101) have also hit sixes covering a distance of more than 100 meter this season.
