Mohsin Khan cricketer IPL: Why is Avesh Khan not playing today's IPL 2022 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians?

Why Avesh Khan not playing today: Lucknow Super Giants have made a solitary change to their Playing XI for this match.

During the 37th match of the ongoing 15th season of the Indian Premier League between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and chose to bowl in the first match of the season at their home ground.

“Feels good to be back here. It has been a while since we played here and we are expecting a lot of noise. Our winning record here was with a different team. We now need to play better now. We’re bowling first,” Sharma told Star Sports at the toss.

“We have played a lot of cricket here to understand that it is a chasing ground. Good pitch, decent boundaries, and we back ourselves to chase anything down.”

In search of an elusive maiden victory of the season after seven consecutive defeats, Indians haven’t made any change to their Playing XI for this match.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants have made a lone change to their Playing XI by bringing in pacer Mohsin Khan for Avesh Khan. A vital part of their bowling attack, Avesh will be missing this match due to a niggle.

“We just need to be smarter with our plans. We haven’t lost by big margins, it has just been small things. Hopefully, we can come out here and do better. Avesh Khan misses out due to a niggle and Mohsin Khan replaces him,” LSG captain KL Rahul said at the toss.

“We got a couple of wickets in the first over in the last game but still gave away 50 runs in the powerplay. So it’s just those small things that we need to correct.”

Readers must note that Avesh is the highest wicket-taker for Super Giants this season by picking 11 wickets at an average of 20.09, an economy rate of 8.28 and a strike rate of 14.5. In the two overs that Mohsin has bowled in the season against Gujarat Titans, he had leaked 18 runs without picking a wicket.
