Comprising of a three-match Test series, the second leg of England’s tour of Pakistan 2022 is all in readiness of beginning with the first Test match slated to be played in Rawalpindi from tomorrow. A seven-match T20I series between these two teams was followed by them touring Australia and New Zealand (only Pakistan) before resuming their Test rivalry after 27 months.

As far as playing in Pakistan is concerned, these two teams will be playing a Test in this country after as many as 17 years. Veteran England pacer James Anderson, highest Test wicket-taker among pacers and highest among English bowlers against Pakistan, is the only cricketer in both the squads to have been part of that series (although he didn’t play any Test) as well.
Part of the ongoing second edition to ICC World Test Championship, these winter Test matches will provide both Pakistan and England with a golden opportunity of trying their best to better their position on the points table. While Pakistan are at the fifth position at the moment, England are further down at the seventh position.

Historically, drawn results have dominated Pakistan-England Test matches especially in Asia. Perhaps it was due to the same reason that England head coach Brendon McCullum had emphasized on the absence of drawn matches in this series. Needless to say, the beginning of England captain Ben Stokes and McCullum’s era outside of England is a reason enough for people around the world to follow these matches.
