Punjab Kings batter Prabhsimran Singh and Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Anmolpreet Singh are opening the batting for their respective teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. Interestingly, both of them are cousins and live together in a joint family in Patiala (Punjab).

Prabhsimran and Anmolpreet both got their maiden IPL call-ups during IPL 2019 auction. Anmolpreet was bought by Mumbai Indians at a price of INR 80 Lakh, whereas Punjab (then Kings XI Punjab) paid a whopping price of INR 4.8 crore to acquire the services of Prabhsimran.
When both brothers got their IPL deals, it was a day of celebration in the family. They were doing Bhangra at their home and it was kind of a festival for them. Prabhsimran said that day that he was confident that Anmolpreet will get a contract, but he was doubtful about himself.
“We all were glued to the television set. I was confident that Bhaiya (Anmolpreet) will get a contract. But I had never imagined that I would get into any of the franchises with such a hefty price tag,” Prabhsimran had told reporters back then.
Prabhsimran Singh Brother Name
Anmolpreet’s father is the elder brother of Prabhsimran’s father. Surjeet Singh is Prabhsimran’s father and he is a government servant who works for the Punjab Mandi Board in Patiala. Satvinder Singh is Anmolpreet’s father and he is a former Indian national Handball player.
Satvinder always wanted his family’s children to follow in his footsteps and used to get angry when Anmolpreet and Prabhsimran played cricket. He had said that the posts of handball goals are now replaced by cricketing nets. However, he was elated when both brothers got their IPL contracts.

Both Prabsimran and Anmolpreet attended Multani Mal Modi College in Patiala. Prabhsimran has often said that his love for cricket started after watching Anmolpreet. Anmolpreet has a brother named Tejpreet Singh, who is a leg-spinner and has been a part of Punjab’s U-19 squad.
Jasbir Kaur is Prabhsimran’s mother, whereas Harjeet Kaur is Anmolpreet’s mother. Both of them are homemakers. Prabsimran also has a sister named Sanjamdeep Kaur.
Prabhsimran Singh IPL journey
The IPL journey of Prabhsimran has not been smooth at all. Despite buying him at a huge sum, Punjab gave just a single match to him in IPL 2019. He was subsequently released the very next season. Punjab re-bought Prabhsimran for INR 55 Lakh in the 2020 auction. They again released and re-bought him for INR 60 Lakh in the 2022 auction.
Prabhsimran has just played 18 IPL matches so far, out of which 12 opportunities have come in the 16th season this year. The way he smashed a century against Delhi Capitals on a tough surface was brilliant to watch. Considering how Kings don’t have big Indian batters in their ranks, Prabhsimran can make a name for himself at the top of the order for the franchise.
