The last time when he had scored more than one duck in an IPL season was half-a-decade ago in 2018. Only the second instance of Sharma registering successive ducks in the IPL, the last time when it had happened was eight years ago.
Sharma, who has been dismissed without scoring a run 28 times in his 417-match T20 career, has faced a similar situation 16 times in his 237-match IPL career. The latest occurrence of the same happened during their ongoing match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Batting at No. 3 for the first time in this format since ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and for the first time in the IPL since 2018, Sharma faced three balls as a forceful attempt of playing an innovative shot resulted in a tame dismissal which was part of a top-order collapse in the powerplay.
Interestingly, Sharma had also lasted for only three balls in the last match against Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium on Wednesday.
