The 119th season of the prestigious Sheffield Shield, Australia’s domestic first-class competition, will begin from today in Adelaide as four matches will be played across different venues.
In the first round, Queensland will take on Tasmania and South Australia will lock horns with Western Australia to kick-off the tournament. Adhering to the COVID-19 protocol, all the four teams had quarantined after reaching Adelaide.
A primary change in this year’s Sheffield Shield is that Kookaburra balls have been reinstated in place of Dukes Ball. The development was made public by Cricket Australia in July and was announced to help the development of spinners in this format.
