You know you are in the middle of something incredibly special when terms such as “Speechless“, “Form of His Life”, “Future of Indian Cricket” etc. are being used to describe you on a daily basis. Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill, who is amid a career-best Indian Premier League season, is, in all honesty, no more the future of Indian cricket because he is the “present of Indian cricket”.

Having not scored a single IPL century in 74 matches across his first five seasons, the 23-year old player has scored three IPL centuries across four innings to become only the second T20 batter after Gloucestershire’s Michael Klinger to achieve a rare milestone in a format which is not known for consistency.
Gill’s fifth T20 century in the last seven months came in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians tonight. The right-handed batter’s personal highest individual score in the shortest format will be remembered as an innings which aided the defending champions in qualifying for their second consecutive IPL final.
Gill, who is already among the four batters to have scored consecutive centuries in the IPL, has become only the second batter after Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s Virat Kohli to score more than two centuries in an IPL season.
