SRH vs RCB Man of the Match: The overseas batsman from Sunrisers Hyderabad was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award in Abu Dhabi.

During the eliminator match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in a riveting chase.

In what has been their fourth consecutive victory now, Sunrisers will play the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals at the same venue on November 8.

After Hyderabad captain David Warner had won the toss and chose to field, Royal Challengers scored 131/7 in 20 overs on the back of wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers’ 38th IPL half-century, 56 (43).

With bowling figures of 4-0-25-3, SRH all-rounder Jason Holder was the pick of Sunrisers’ bowlers in the first innings. Other than Holder, T. Natarajan and Shahbaz Nadeem picked two and one wicket respectively. While the likes of Sandeep Sharma and Rashid Khan weren’t among the wickets, both them of registering combined bowling figures of 8-0-43-0 spoke highly about their skills in the big match.

Chasing a 132-run target, Sunrisers thrived on the back a match-winning 65-run partnership between batsman Kane Williamson and Holder. Putting their matured faces on display, the experienced pair never bothered to get affected by the required run rate. Taking minimal risks, Williamson and Holder won the match for their team with a couple of deliveries to go.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the powerplay, Williamson played the role of an archetype anchor which witnessed him scoring 50* (44) with the help of two fours and two sixes.

Holder, on the other hand, was the one who scored two consecutive boundaries off Bangalore pacer Navdeep Saini to win the match scoring 24* (20). Other than outscoring Holder on the field, Williamson also surpassed the West Indian player to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

“Look it was a tough game. It was never going to be easy against a class side like RCB. The surface was a little tricky and chasing anything on it wasn’t easy. It was a challenge for us to restrict them to that kind of a total. They also had two world-class spinners. We did well to go through their spells without losing too many wickets.

“Batting at [number] 4 can vary a lot and becomes surface dependent. A few shots from Jason [Holder] helped. The guys have been fighting hard. He [Holder] is cooler than me. The all-rounder role in the team has been well by him,” Williamson told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
