After hosting a three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India, the iconic R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo is all in readiness to host a three-match T20I series between the same two teams from tomorrow.
It is worth mentioning that the venue had last hosted a T20I during England’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2018. Sri Lanka, who have played 20 T20Is at this venue till date, have only won four of them with their last victory coming against South Africa three years ago.
Sri Lanka, who defeated India by 3 wickets in the third ODI last night, had tasted success after seven losses across formats at the highest level. Under Dasun Shanaka, the hosts would want to continue their winning momentum against a team like India in a T20 World Cup year.
For Indian players, this will be the last series before the world event. Hence, whosoever will get an opportunity to play, will be aware of the fact that auditions for the World Cup won’t be conducted after this as far as international cricket is concerned.

Sony Network will broadcast the live streaming of the first T20I between Sri Lanka and India in India. As was the case during the recently concluded ODI series, the T20I series will also be telecast on Sony SIX, Sony TEN 1, Sony TEN 3 and Sony TEN 4 in India.
Online users can stream the match on Sony’s streaming application named Sony LIV. It is worth mentioning that fans no longer have the option of watching the match on Airtel Xstream app as Sony Network’s channels are no longer available on this platform.
As far as the local fans in Sri Lanka are concerned, they will also be able to watch the Colombo T20I on their televisions by tuning in to Siyatha TV.
