T20 Blast: Adam Milne to join Kent Spitfires as Mohammad Amir's replacement in Vitality Blast 2021

Adam Milne to join Kent Spitfires: The fast bowler will New Zealand is all set to return to Kent Spitfires after missing the last season.

New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne will rejoin Kent Spitfires for the imminent season of Vitality T20 Blast. The last-minute announcement comes a day before the start of the tournament.

Milne, 29, who had represented Spitfires in back-to-back seasons between 2017-19, has been roped in as a replacement for former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir.

An official statement on Kent’s website mentioned “rescheduling of the Pakistan Super League and COVID-related restrictions” as the two reasons behind Amir missing T20 Blast 2021. With the second phase of PSL 2021 starting on the same day as T20 Blast, Amir will be representing Karachi Kings in the UAE.

In 28 T20s for Spitfires, Milne has picked 38 wickets at an average of 19.11, an economy rate of 7.35 and a strike rate of 15.61. Having last played for New Zealand in April this year, Milne had represented defending champions Mumbai Indians in the defunct 14th season of the Indian Premier League.

“I love being a Spitfire and I’m really excited that the opportunity has arisen for me to come back to Kent for a fourth time. It’ll be great to see familiar faces in the dressing room but I’m also looking forward to working with the new talent that has joined since my last stint in 2019,” Milne said in a statement.

“He is a world class T20 bowler who has made a significant difference to our side every time he has played for the Spitfires. I am sure our Members and supporters will be excited to welcome him back for the later stages of the Vitality Blast,” Kent Director of Cricket Paul Downton said in a statement about Milne.
