"Tula Maanla Bhau": Yuzi Chahal Bows Down To Suryakumar Yadav Scoring Maiden 100 in the IPL

Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowed down in respect to Mumbai Indians vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav for scoring a maiden Indian Premier League century against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium tonight.

Yadav, who continues to improve with each IPL 2023 outing, followed his 20 half-centuries in the biggest T20 league around the world with the first-ever instance of touching the three-figure mark after having done the same thrice in T20Is.

Although Yadav didn’t achieve any record by scoring a hundred on a Friday night, the brutal manner in which he treated the visiting bowlers was nothing less than a record in itself. Coming in to bat at No. 3 right after the powerplay, Yadav found his groove from the word go scoring 103* (49) with the help of 11 fours and six sixes.

Not affected by the fall of two more wickets before the halfway mark, Yadav hit the ball to all parts of the ground to become a source of amazement for one and all. Needing 13 runs to complete a personal milestone in the last over, Yadav hit a couple of sixes against pacer Alzarri Joseph (0/52) to get to his fourth T20 century. The right-handed batter successfully managed to sweep Joseph when three runs were needed off the last ball.

13th instance of an IPL century at this iconic venue, Yadav has become the third batter from Indians to score a hundred at their home ground. Third batter to hit an IPL 2023 century here, Yadav has followed legendary batters Sanath Jayasuriya (2008) and Sachin Tendulkar (2011) among batters from the hosts to end a 12-year long hiatus.

Twitter Reactions On Suryakumar Yadav Scoring Maiden 100 in the IPL

Chahal, who became the highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL as recent as yesterday, was among the many who tweeted to be wax lyrical of Yadav.

What is the Meaning of “Tula Maanla Bhau”?

Also used by former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli to laud Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Shardul Thakur twice for his performances for India, this Marathi line in “Tula Maanla Bhau” means “hats off to you brother” in English.
