"Unique celebration": Jason Holder brings out hilarious celebration vs Sri Lanka in Antigua T20I

Jason Holder: The West Indian all-rounder contributed across departments in the first match at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of West Indies in Antigua, West Indies all-rounder put on display a hilarious wicket-taking celebration in addition to contributing across departments in a comprehensive 4-wicket West Indian victory.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 10th over when Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman unsuccessfully swept a Holder delivery. In what was a slower delivery, Dickwella failed to read the pace and completely missed the ball only to get bowled.

Having opened the batting with Danushka Gunathilaka (4), Dickwella departed after scoring 33 (29) with the help of three fours and a six. The dismissal also broke a 51-run partnership for the second wicket between Dickwella and debutant Pathum Nissanka (39).

Holder, who picked a wicket in his third over, registered bowling figures of 4-0-19-1 in his first T20I in almost 15 months. After dismissing Dickwella, Holder hilariously rolled on the ground to bring out a unique celebration.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the sixth over, Holder remained unbeaten till the end to score 29* (24) to seal a 132-run chase in the 14th over. The 29-year old player also had the best seat at the Coolidge Cricket Ground when his captain Kieron Pollard hit six sixes in an over off Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya in the next over after he picked a maiden T20I hat-trick.

In addition to Holder, the match also witnessed individual comebacks for Universe Boss Chris Gayle and fast bowler Fidel Edwards. While 41-year old Gayle (0) was one of Dananjaya’s scalps, Edwards picked bowling figures of 4-0-29-1 after sharing the new ball with debutant Kevin Sinclair.
