A huge section of Cricket fans around the world booed Ravichandran Ashwin when he decided to run out Jos Buttler during an IPL match in the year 2019.

In fact, whenever such a mode of dismissal is attempted by a bowler during his delivery stride, more often than not the batter is always absolved from the error that was made on his/her part, by making it all about the so-called poor display of ‘sportsman spirit’ exhibited by the bowler.
However, the day Deepti Sharma decided to perform the ‘Mankad’ and with it help India clean sweep the three-match ODI series against England for the first time, the English Cricketers and fans amusingly had the “we’ve had it enough” meltdown on social media to a lawful dismissal.
The collective meltdown from the fans and the media even prompted the veteran Cricket broadcaster/commentator Harsha Bhogle to explain via a Twitter thread as to how it was an English cultural thing, to try and tell the world that a mode of lawful dismissal should be condemned by everyone alike just because they do not like it.
Harsha Bhogle decided to school Ben Stokes regarding stigmatization around the Mankad dismissal
As a reply to Bhogle’s aforementioned remark, England Test captain Ben Stokes questioned the former’s ‘cultural thing’ remark.
Harsha … bringing culture into peoples opinion over a Mankad? https://t.co/QNyY8K59kP

Stokes then responded to Bhogle’s another tweet as well, where he expressed his disappointment on the English media for directing their malice towards Deepti Sharma.
The Southpaw allrounder reckoned he was also the victim of scores of hate messages from the Indian fans post the final of 2019 World Cup as well, for the overthrow runs that went for a boundary off his bat.
Harsha .. 2019 WC final was over 2 years ago, I still till this day revive countless messages calling me all sorts from Indian fans, does this disturb you? https://t.co/m3wDGM7eU3

While Harsha empathized with Stokes on his aforementioned reply, he was pretty much adamant that reaction to the Deepti ‘Mankad’ by the England fans and media was indeed a cultural thing with which the England cricketers grow up to. He ended his tweet with the comment that he’d have a chat with him on the topic one fine day.
Well, you were not at fault on that one so with you there. On the reaction in England to the non-striker backing up, I think it is what you are told when you learn the game and so, part of culture. Very happy to chat about it one day if you have a moment. Cheers
