Vishwa Fernando brother: Is Dilhara Fernando Sri Lanka cricketer related to Vishwa Fernando?

Kolkata’s Eden Gardens is hosting the 2nd ODI of the 3-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first on a brilliant batting track in Kolkata and both teams made some changes to their playing 11 from the first ODI match.

India made a solitary change to their playing eleven where Kuldeep Yadav has replaced Yuzvendra Chahal in the playing eleven, who is out due to a shoulder injury. It will be interesting to see Kuldeep bowl as he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the past.

Sri Lanka made a couple of changes to their playing 11, where Pathum Nissanka and Dilshan Madushanaka were replaced by Nuwanidu Fernando and Lahiru Kumara. The Sri Lankan team would want to bounce back after losing in the first ODI match in Guwahati.

Vishwa Fernando brother

The 23-year-old Nuwanidu Fernando is making his debut for Sri Lanka after performing in domestic cricket. He has scored 1771 FC runs at 40.25 and 748 List-A runs at 35.61. Nuwanidu has also played for Jaffna Stallions and Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League. A lot of Fernandos have already played for Sri Lanka in the past.

The users must note that Nuwanidu is the younger brother of Sri Lankan cricketer Vishwa Fernando. Vishwa is a 31-year-old left-arm pacer and has represented Sri Lanka in all three formats of the game. He has scalped 43 test wickets and 5 ODI wickets. Vishwa last played for Sri Lanka in May last year in a test match against Bangladesh.

Dilhara Fernando is a former Sri Lanka pacer who played his last international match in 2016. He scalped 100 test wickets in 40 matches, whereas he also had 187 ODI and 18 T20I wickets. Dilhara even played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The users must note that Dilhara Fernando is not related to the brother duo of Nuwanidu Fernando and Vishwa Fernando.
