With Mumbai Indians slated to play their first home match of the season tonight, the iconic Wankhede Stadium will become the 10th venue to be host an Indian Premier League 2023 match. In a season where some venues have hosted an IPL match after almost four years, this stadium had hosted as many as 21 matches last season.

Although there wasn’t any home-away concept in IPL 2022, Indians did play four home matches at their home ground. Set to host Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, the visitors had also played four matches (including one against MI) here.

Historically, Mumbai have won 43 and lost 27 out of their 71 matches at this venue. Chennai, on the contrary, have won 11 and lost 12 out of their 23 matches here. Although by a narrow margin, the hosts (8.4) also have a better average run rate than CSK (8.34) at the Wankhede Stadium.
