WATCH: Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan's Thigh Five Celebration features in Sidhu Moose Wala's New Song 'Mera Na'

Although former India captain Virat Kohli has also celebrated in this manner on a cricket ground, veteran India batter Shikhar Dhawan is to be credited for introducing the cricketing fraternity with what is popularly known as “Thigh Five” now.

Dhawan, who usually slaps his thigh in celebration after grabbing a catch in a cricket match, admitted to be fond of Kabaddi in the latest episode of The Ranveer Show. Not the first time when when Dhawan has expressed his love for the sport publicly, he spoke about how the move has become a prerequisite for him to do whilst fielding at the boundary.

“I watch Kabaddi a lot. I am fond of it. Whenever they do this move, it’s a very macho feeling. I thought of bringing it into cricket. By the grace of god, it has become very famous now. If I am fielding at the boundary, I will first have to do it for the spectators,” Dhawan said on The Ranveer Show recently.

It is noteworthy that both Dhawan and Kohli have featured in a music video of slain lyricist-singer-actor Sidhu Moose Wala’s latest single track titled ‘Mera Na’.

Not that the two cricketers have worked as actors in the song which released this morning but them doing the Thigh Five has made it to the music video uploaded on Moose Wala’s official YouTube channel. In addition to the cricketing duo, actor Ranveer Singh doing the same has also got a mention in the video which has been directed and brilliantly edited by Navkaran Brar.

For the unversed, an archetype Patt te Thaapi (Thigh Five) used to be Moose Wala’s signature step in both his music videos and live shows. Shikhar and Ranveer, in particular, were vocal followers of Moose Wala’s songs.

It was hours before IPL 2022 final that Moose Wala was murdered in Jawaharke Village of District Mansa, Punjab. Moose Wala, who was driving an SUV when some 30 rounds were fired to kill him, had died on the spot.

Following the likes of ‘SYL’ and ‘Vaar’, readers must note that Mera Na is the third song which has released after Moose Wala’s death. It is said that there are over a dozen unreleased songs of Moose Wala which will be made public in due course of time. Moose Wala’s YouTube channel and social media handles are handled by his father and team now.
