Weather at SCG now: Sydney Cricket Ground weather today for BBL 12 SIX vs HUR match

The bat flip ahead of the 11th match of Big Bash League 2022-23 between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes has been delayed due to rain in Sydney. Slated to host a match for the first time in this season, the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground hasn’t been fortunate enough to allow proceedings as per the original schedule.

With the bat flip already getting delayed, it is obvious that the start of the match will also be delayed. Considering the amount of rainfall falling in the city right now and the weather forecast for the subsequent hours, we might be in for an elongated delay tonight.

Thinking of gaining home advantage for the first time in BBL 2022-23, Sixers’ plans has it in it to get affected especially in case of a rain-curtailed match.

Weather at SCG

First things first, rain continues to pour over the SCG as one writes this piece. With the clock just ticking over 07:00 PM (local time), it has crossed a rain probability of 91% according to BBC Weather.

In spite of a significant reduction in the rain probability at 08:00 PM, it will still be at 69% only to further reduce to 48% by 09:00 PM. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this match gets abandoned altogether to become the first BBL 12 match to get abandoned without a ball being bowled.

That being said, assuming that rain clears in the immediate future and that the outfield at the stadium isn’t excessively wet, there still could be chances of a shortened contest on Thursday. The same might be possible as the rain probability is predicted to reduce further around 11:00 PM.
