What If RCB vs GT IPL Match Gets Cancelled Due To Rain Today?

Weather has successfully managed to convert the last league match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League into a triangular contest. Slated to rain in Bengaluru since yesterday, weather prediction proved to be true to a tee as there was literally no stopping the rainfall throughout the day.

As a result, both the toss and start of play of Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Titans has ended up getting delayed. A 30-minute delay to the start of the match meant that first ball would’ve been bowled at 08:00 PM (local time). Having said that, a rain resumption a handful of minutes before 8 PM led to another hindrance.

For the unversed, defending champions Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl in the last league match of the season. It is worth mentioning that no overs have been lost in this all-important match which will decide the fourth team for the playoffs.

What If RCB vs GT IPL Match Gets Cancelled Due To Rain Today?

With Mumbai Indians defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium today, Rajasthan Royals have been knocked out of the tournament.

Hence, the fight for the last spot now remains between MI and RCB. The former’s victory earlier in the day means that they now have 16 points to their name as compared to the latter’s 14.

Assuming that rain continues to dominate at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on a Sunday night, Royal Challengers won’t be able to qualify for the next round despite earning a point from a rain abandoned contest.

What If RCB Lose Against GT?

Additionally, Bangalore will also get eliminated from IPL 2023 if they lose this match to Gujarat. Irrespective of the margin and nature of win, Faf du Plessis and his men desperately need to defeat the visiting team in order for them to face Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023 Eliminator in Chennai on Wednesday.
