Will MS Dhoni Play IPL 2023 Final Match At The Narendra Modi Stadium?

Adding to the already long list of miracles performed by him on a cricket ground, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has pretty much survived a whole Indian Premier League season nursing a knee injury. Been spotted with ice packs both during training and post-match presentation ceremonies, there has literally been no stopping the 41-year old player this year.

Not even walking down the road of being substituted by an Impact Player in any of the 15 IPL 2023 matches which CSK have played thus far, Dhoni’s fitness being at a level of its own has been highlighted yet again during the ongoing season of the biggest T20 league around the world.

Dhoni, who hasn’t played any other form of representative cricket other than the IPL since retiring from international cricket 33 months ago, is a testament for modern-day cricketers who get injured quite often.

Will MS Dhoni Play IPL 2023 Final Match At The Narendra Modi Stadium?

As had been the case before IPL 2023 season opener between Gujarat Titans and Super Kings, Dhoni’s knee injury has come under the scanner on the eve of the final match between the same two teams at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

According to a report by Rev SportzDhoni hasn’t accompanied his teammates to training a day before the last match of the tournament. The development has it in it for people to cast doubts over Dhoni’s availability for the final on Sunday.

That being said, there are high chances of it being just another case of a senior player opting to rest before a season finale. Knowing that Dhoni is carrying a niggle for quite some time now, the team management wouldn’t have objected to him not taking part in practice today.

Dhoni’s plentiful fans are advised to await for an official update on the matter before presuming anything. In the absence of any update or press release from Chennai, it is safe to assume that Dhoni is available for IPL 2023 final match. Furthermore, the legendary cricketer’s determination over the years has been such that one doesn’t expect him to miss the final due to a niggle.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
