"Woke up to this amazing news": Suryakumar Yadav celebrates Jaydev Unadkat's return in test squad after 12 years in IND vs BAN test series

After the 3-match ODI series, Bangladesh and India will play a couple of test matches in Chattogram and Mirpur. The Indian team is struggling with injuries, and ace Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series. BCCI have roped in Jaydev Unadkat as his replacement.

Unadkat is making his return to the Indian test setup after a gap of 12 years. He played his only test in 2010 against South Africa in Centurion, where he could not grab a single wicket and also gave away 101 runs. After that test, Unadkat has been grinding in domestic cricket, and he has finally got his reward.

Unadkat has been a stalwart in the Indian domestic circuit for Saurashtra. In the last Ranji Season, he scalped 9 wickets in 3 matches. He has overall scalped 353 FC wickets in 96 matches, and under his leadership, Saurashtra also won the Ranji title in the 2019-20 season, where he was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 67 wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav celebrates Jaydev Unadkat’s return in test squad

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has celebrated Unadkat’s return to the Indian test team via Twitter. Both Suryakumar and Unadkat played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022.

“Woke up to this amazing news Jaydev Unadkat 💪❤️🫡✊🏼 SO SO SO happy for you bro,” Suryakumar Yadav tweeted.

Earlier this year, Unadkat made a tweet where he asked for a chance to play in the Indian test team. “Dear red ball, please give me one more chance.. I’ll make you proud, promise!,” Unadkat tweeted in January 2022.

It has been said that the failures with the white ball have impacted Unadkat’s selection in the team as he has been excellent with the red ball for a long time now. It is safe to say that Unadkat has got a well-deserved opportunity and having a left-arm pacer is always a luxury.
