After a dazzling opening ceremony featuring eye-catching performances from some of the biggest names presently in the entertainment industry, the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League has finally commenced with some renowned presenters and commentators taking charge of the proceedings.

It is the Gujarat Giants who have opted to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians Women in the tournament opener, currently underway at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, in Navi Mumbai.

The Reliance Industries-owned Viacom18, which has bagged the media rights of WPL for a five-year period, has managed to rope in the four renowned and experienced names in the field of broadcasting who will come up with their analysis and player interactions during the entirety of the season.

Popular names in Sanjana Ganesan and Ridhima Pathak will be debuting for the Viacom 18 network this season onwards. The duo have also been a crucial part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) broadcasting team unit for quite some years as well. Additionally, the two will also come up with a weekly wrap-up of the WPL proceedings every Saturday.

Joining them in the anchor seat will be experienced voices of Suhail Chandhok and Anant Tyagi. The duo have presented and hosted several studio shows of other mainstream sports broadcasts by the network in the past as well, including the pre and post-match analysis of the FIFA World Cup 2022 most recently.

A pioneer of Women’s Cricket in India, veteran actor/presenter/broadcaster Mandira Bedi made a surprise appearance as the host of Women’s Premier League opening ceremony.

While her on-screen presence is still a breath of fresh air as it has always been over the years, she his unlikely to don the presenter hat and cover the league this year.
