Wankhede Stadium Pitch Report for MI vs GT IPL 2023 Match in Mumbai

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is set to host the 57th league match of Indian Premier League 2023 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. This pitch has hosted some high-scoring encounters and the fans would want the same to repeat in this match as well.

Mumbai Indians are in brilliant form with the bat and they will aim yet another win in their own backyard. Batter Suryakumar Yadav is in outstanding form at the moment, whereas the other batters have also contributed to the team’s cause. Although, the bowling of this side looks quite weak.

A win in this match will seal the playoff spot for the defending champions. The Titans have been absolutely brilliant in the tournament with both bat and ball. Having multiple match-winners in their ranks make Gujarat a formiddable outfit.

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is one of the best batting tracks in the world and we have seen some masterclass batting displays in this edition of IPL. This track has been an absolute belter so far. A red-soil track is used here which has a good amount of bounce on it. The Pacers can move the ball a bit in the initial overs under lights.

“I think this (surface) will be an absolute beauty. There’s a nice even covering of grass right through, on a red soil wicket. It’ll get better and better as the game goes on,” Aaron Finch said in his pitch assessment ahead of the MI vs RCB match.

This is a flat track with no help for any kind of bowlers. A total of five matches have been played here so far this season where the average first innings score has been 194 runs. Out of five, four matches have been won by the chasing teams. It is safe to say that no total is safe to defend at Wankhede.

The boundaries are very small, whereas the outfield is electric as well. Both sets of bowlers would want to hide themselves. The dew factor will play a major part and captains would love to chase upon winning the toss.
