Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly asking Madrid to let him leave the Bernabeu with asking price of a mere €100 million.

Ronaldo is easily the most revered Galactico of this generation. Having just won his 5th Ballon’dor, the 32-year old remains a central figure the club both on and off the pitch. He has been instrumental in Madrid defending their Champion’s League and La Liga titles.

Duncan Castles writes in the Daily Record that Ronaldo’s relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reached a “dangerously low ebb,” with the pair not even on speaking terms at the moment.

A return to United on cards?

This has alerted clubs such as Manchester United and Paris Saint-German. They have been told by Ronaldo’s representative that he would “fight for a move” next summer.

Ronaldo has previously stated that he wants to retire at Madrid, his dream club. But from then on, things seem to have gone downhill for the Portuguese star.

Ronaldo joined Madrid in the summer of 2009 and has been through various phases with Madrid. He is arguably the greatest of all time-a spot for which the other contender seems to be the alien Lionel Messi.

The attacker now seems to have fallen out with the club hierarchy. He has criticized the club letting go of many first-team players like Morata, James Rodriguez, Danilo etc. Madrid are currently 14 points behind league leaders Barcelona at 4th.

They also face a tough opponent in PSG in the Round of 16 of the Champion’s League.

Author’s Take:

Rumours about him are nothing new, but each time it stirs up the footballing world. Though it is highly unlikely that he leaves Real Madrid, return to Manchester would be a fairytale move.

The only pointer to something like this would be Neymar’s return to Spain. If Perez indeed persuades him to move to the Spanish Capital, Ronaldo will not be there to welcome him.
