Allegri hints at Ronaldo's return for Ajax Champions League clash

Massimiliano Allegri hints at Cristiano Ronaldo’s return against Ajax for the Champions League Quarterfinals next week.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is confident about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return, revealing he is “better” with a huge European tie on the horizon. There were initial fears about his absence in this tie, but the angst situation has been put to bed by the Old Lady manager.

The former Real Madrid forward suffered a hamstring strain while on International duty against Serbia last month, which forced him to return to the club early. The Portuguese forward revealed that he could be on track within two weeks which might soon end up true as per Allegri’s comments.

The Italian International also said that he would not be picked for the weekend’s game against AC Milan in the Serie A as they continue to sweat over his fitness ahead of the Champions League clash against Ajax.

“Ronaldo is better,” Allegri told at press conference on Friday.

“Five days from Amsterdam there are good signs, he is doing everything to be there and we hope to have him available but he won’t be included tomorrow in the squad to face Milan.”

Cristiano Ronaldo inspired his side to a 3-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 to carry his side to the last eight of the competition. The former Manchester United forward has made 36 appearances for the club this campaign, scoring 24 goals and assisting another 12, making him the highest leading scorer for the club.

His presence will be crucial for the Old Lady as the club prepare to battle out for their first European title in 23 years. There is no doubt that the club will be hoping for him to take over the field next week. Plenty of Real Madrid fans are hoping for their former star to do the damage to Ajax who eliminated them from the competition.
