Cristiano Ronaldo: Maurizio Sarri confirms forward Ronaldo's role at Juventus

Maurizio Sarri confirms that Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing through his traditional left-wing.

New Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed about Cristiano Ronaldo’s role. The Portuguese International was deployed as a striker by Allegri last season, but he will operate through the left under Sarri.

Despite the Serie A triumph, Allegri’s defensive tactics was always brought into scrutiny. It did not get the best out of Cristiano Ronaldo as he failed to score 30 goals for the first time in 13 years. On the other hand, Maurizio Sarri, who led Chelsea to Europa League victory, installs a fast-forward attacking philosophy.

Sarri’s football has always been eye-catch, and it was framed ‘SarriBall’ after his huge success in Napoli.

Speaking in the press conference, Sarri confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo would primarily operate through the left and several alterations could take place during the game.

Sarri said: “I’m going to first try using Cristiano slightly on the left-hand side but really he can play anywhere with the quality that he has. He’s very experienced and has won so much.”

With the likes of Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in the frontline, the attacking department would be really expected to click.

Sarri has confirmed that the new signing Matthijs De Ligt would him the rest of his teammates for the first time in the pre-season camp.

“Until now de Ligt hasn’t trained with teammates yet but he’ll definitely see some action tomorrow.” he added.

The Old Lady have already confirmed the signings of Aaron Ramsey, Matthijs De Ligt, Adrien Rabiot, and Gianluigi Buffon. Besides, the club is keeping an eye on Mauro Icardi, who has been framed out of the squad until he’s sold. This marks a strong transfer window as the Italian side desire to improve their Champions League record.

In the forthcoming days, Juventus will play Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid.

Whether this role would suit Cristiano Ronaldo at the age of 34, needs to be witnessed because of the lack of pace in recent years.
