Cristiano Ronaldo on Real Madrid: The former Real Madrid star has spoken about leaving Real Madrid for the first time.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer transfer window earlier this year. The Spanish giants are seemingly unable to recover from the departure of their star forward, as is quite evident from their current league campaign.

Real Madrid are 9th in the league and suffered a crushing 5-1 loss to arch-rivals Barcelona last week.

The speculations over Julen Lopetegui’s future at the club are at an all-time high ever since he joined the club, and various Spanish reports claim that Antonio Conte is set to become the new manager of the club.

As Real Madrid recovers from the stunning result against Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo has now spoken about the decision to leave the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Real Madrid:

Cristiano Ronaldo, in an interview with France Football, opened up on his time at Real Madrid and the decision to leave the club. He stated that his relationship with president Florentino Perez took a fall over his time at the club.

“I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start,” Ronaldo said.

“In the first four or five years there, I had the feeling of being ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’. Less afterwards. The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them.”

Ronaldo stated that the reason behind moving to Juventus was not about the money, but was more because of a broken relationship with Florentino Perez.

“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave.

“There was a bit of that, but the truth is that I always had the impression that the president would not hold me back. If it had all been about money, I’d have moved to China, where I would have earned five times as much than here [at Juventus] or at Real.

“I did not come to Juve for the money. I earned the same in Madrid, if not more. The difference is that, at Juve, they really wanted me. They told me that and made it clear. They showed me that.”

Cristiano Ronaldo also stated that Zinedine Zidane’s departure from Real Madrid had no impact on his decision.
