Cristiano Ronaldo: Portuguese sensation's mother accuses football mafia for robbing his son of individual glory

Cristiano Ronaldo: Portuguese sensation’s mother accuses football mafia of denying his son the personal glory she believes he deserved.

Cristiano Ronaldo is among the greatest players to ever grace the game and has possibly won every accolade possible in World football to win including 5 times FIFA Player of the year awards.

Yet the Portuguese International is not ready to stop and wants to enhance his legacy by winning even more number of awards. Surely, Ronaldo believes that he deserves more in his career.

Similarly, his mother also shares the same views. However, at the same time, she accuses a supposedly “Football Mafia” that has denied his son of individual glory.

“There is a mafia. That’s the right word to define it. Yes, there is a mafia in football,” she told the Portuguese press. If there wasn’t a football mafia, my son would have more [individual] international trophies. If you see everything that happened, you will realise that it is the mafia.

“If he was Spanish or English they would not do what they did to him. But since he’s Portuguese and from Madeira… well, this happens.”

Ronaldo is one of the favourites to win this year’s award, though Messi and Liverpool stars Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane are also seen as top contenders but his mother feels the Juventus attacker deserves to win it again, assuming the ‘mafia’ do not intervene.

“I don’t know if he will get it, but I am confident. I think he deserves it if we analyse what he did during the season,” she said.

Ronaldo’s mother is not the only person from his family to believe that he has been robbed by football bodies for undermining his efforts, as his sister Elma made similar claims last year.

“Unfortunately this is the world we live in, rotten, with the mafia and f******g money,” she wrote on Instagram after Modric beat him to the award. “The power of God is a lot greater than all this rottenness. God takes his time but he doesn’t fail.”
