At 34 Cristiano Ronaldo is still a beast on the field. He has the physicality of a 20 something footballer despite being at the stage where most others begin planning their life beyond the game. His top physical condition has not come by without hardwork and dedication though.

The Portuguese who is on a mission to help Juventus to a Champions League title, is arguably the Italian Champion’s fittest player and Spanish Newspaper AS have now revealed the secrets behind this incredible physical condition.

Cristiano Ronaldo training routine

According to AS, Ronaldo is extremely demanding with his diet. It is not just the amount and the content of what he eats that he is strict with but also in the distribution of his time between training and rest days.

Ronaldo eats 6 meals per day based around protein and carbohydrates and protein. His diet mainly consists of pasta and chicken cooked without oil and salt. To hydrate himself, Ronaldo relies on good old water except for breakfast when he allows himself to consume pineapple or Orange Juice.

Apart from his diet, Ronaldo also sticks to a very detailed workout plan. Besides the training session with Juventus, Ronaldo also follows his own specific program. Apart from 5 such sessions in the gym, he also does Pilates and swimming. In fact, he is so committed to training that he has to be stopped by his trainers from overtraining himself.

One last component of Ronaldo’s regime is rest. Despite being hard to follow, the Portuguese aims to get 8 hours of sleep every night. He tries to make a routine to sleep and get up at the same time every day. He also takes a power nap after his fourth meal.

Most important than all the three points above combined though, is his willpower. Ronaldo understands that if he is to remain at the top for long, he will have to train harder everyday to reverse the effects of dwindling age. Fortunately for him, he has an overflowing source of that.
