CS:GO - PGL Major Stockholm announced with a $2 million prize money.

There’s some major news for CS:GO fans. After a long time because of the global corona virus lockdown, a CS:GO major to be held in Sweden was announced today.

CS:GO despite being around for a long time, still has a growing community. Esports events are held regularly and CS:GO pros have a great fan following as well. Although it is after a very long time a Major event is being held.

The last major event was held in August 2019 in Berlin. It was called the StarLadder Berlin Major and Astralis were the winners. Since then ESL Rio was to be held but kept getting postponed and was then cancelled. This was because of the global pandemic situation.

PGL to host the event in Stockholm –

It was announced today that PGL will be holding the competition. A handsome $2 million prize money was revealed for the winners. It will be known as the PGL Major Stockholm and will be held in Stockholm, Sweden.

Incidentally the first ever CS:GO major was also held in Sweden. The event will have a live audience and also 4K streaming will be available for the first time to viewers from around the world. The dates announced are October 23rd and November 7th of 2021. The main event will be from 4-7th November.

PGL and a history of CS:GO Majors –

PGL MAJOR STOCKHOLM 2021 will be the third CS:GO Major in which PGL will be involved. The first two were Cluj-Napoca 2015 and  Kraków 2017. PGL also introduced 1080 60fps stream for the first time in 2017. This year it will in 4K livestreaming. PGL also said that “new surprises like innovative Augmented Reality elements, brand new custom HUD and other brand new features.”

As of now no news about proper scheduling, tickets and other things were not revealed. A major concern is health and well being of the players. So the event will only go through after proper safety conditions are met.
