Cyberpunk 2077 anime: Developers confirm Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime coming to Netflix in 2022

Cyberpunk 2077 anime : CD Projekt Red has also confirmed the production of the Cyberpunk  Edgerunners. Read more to find out who else will be part of this exciting project.

It is not all bad news for CD Projekt Red, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077. Despite a very rocky start after the launch of the game, the Polish developers are looking to make a strong statement. There have been many bugs in the game, which have annoyed players. It has also led to Sony allowing players to return the game for a refund.

All of this is not bringing down the awesome game that is Cyberpunk 2077, and soon we will have an anime spinoff of the dynamic sci-fi game. Dubbed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime will be created by Studio Trigger, which is popular for creating Little With Academia.

IGN, has also confirmed this news by tweeting about the collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger.

According to a recent press release, Edgerunners, “tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

When will Cyberpunk: Edgerunners release?

If all goes as per plan, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners should be available on Netflix in 2022. CD Projekt Red will de producing the series. Edgerunners will be set in Nigh City, which is part of the game. However,  it will focus on a whole different set of characters and will have a different story as well.

The anime will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, one of the founders of Studio Trigger. In his statement, he said, “We at TRIGGER are thrilled to work with CD Projekt Red to create a brand-new story set in the world of the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a huge challenge to adapt this universe into an anime, but we are eager to face it head-on.”
