Dani Ceballos accidentally let’s slip possible Premier League return date in an interview with a Spanish radio station.

The Premier League has been actively looking for a way to resume their campaign. Football, like every other event around the world, came to a halting screech following the coronavirus pandemic. However, plans for a return have since been laid down.

While a few countries such as France and most recently Scotland have called off their season, the Premier League is looking to follow in the footsteps of Germany, who brought the Bundesliga back last week. It appears that Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos may have given us a hint on when to expect the resumption of English football.

June 12th has been discussed by several sources as the likeliest restart date. However, several others have mentioned that it is highly unlikely to resume football this early. Dani Ceballos though, has indicated that the Premier League could indeed return in June itself.

“We are going to start a week late with respect to what is being talked about in Spain, which is June 12, and we are going to start the league on the 20th, “Ceballos told Spanish radio station RTVE.

“We passed the test 48 hours ago and the results of the whole team were negative.”

Coronavirus testing was carried out in the Premier League this week. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was one of the first high-profile cases before the suspension of football. However, this time none of the playing or coaching staff tested positive this week.

In fact, Tuesday saw players at top-flight teams up and down the country head back to training.

If and when the Premier League returns, all remaining 92 matches will take place behind closed doors. Although discussions are still ongoing over certain aspects such as playing at neutral venues or just home grounds.
