David De Gea: Manchester United prioritize Barcelona goalkeeper

David De Gea: Manchester United prioritize Barcelona goalkeeper as Jasper Cillissen seeks more game-time outside Catalunya.

David De Gea is reportedly linked with several European clubs as he wants end his time with the Red Devils. The Spanish International is yet to extend his contract, which ends in the summer of 2020.

The 28-year-old on the other hand has been underwhelming this season, as his high-profile errors in the later stage of the season made Manchester United cost several matches.

It is likely that the Spanish goalkeeper will leave England this summer, and PSG are reportedly leading the race to hire the services of him.

Whereas, Manchester United are amidst a squad overhaul and according to a report by the SkySports, Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen is one of the prospects to be on the Red Devils’ radar.

The Dutch goalkeeper joined the Catalan club in 2016 from Ajax. Despite being phenomenal in limited chances he received, he remained a deputy to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Thus, it seems that the 30-year-old goalkeeper wants to receive more game-time as he is into the last phase of his career and seeking suitable prospects.

It is further reported, The Dutchman has a contract with Barcelona till 2021 with a buyout clause of €60 million, but is likely to be let go for less.

If Manchester United open talks for the player, Cillessen would be a fair deal in such an inflated market. Whereas, absence of Champions league football is making Manchester United miss on their prime targets. Hence, the Barcelona goalkeeper could be a viable option for Manchester United.
