Watch the video of David Silva handing over a lead to Manchester City in the FA Cup Finals.
Manchester City took on Watford in the finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. The Citizens started the game slowly, and Javi Gracia’s side had an early chance through their winger Roberto Pereyra. The Argentine’s broke through the counter-attack, thanks to an exquisite ball from Gerard Deulefeu, who split the defence to find.
Ederson rushed down the spot to narrow the angle and make life tougher for the Watford attacker. It was not an easy chance, but the Brazilian made the save such easy by making himself big. He got enough to wind up the ball away from the Watford attackers and shield the goalpost.
There were not particularly any chances for either side as Watford sat back and held the ball brilliantly. But, the resilience broke when Doucoure lost the ball in the middle of the park. Bernardo Silva won back the ball, and Raheem Sterling took a shot from outside the box which was blocked by Adrian Mariappa.
When the ball went up in the air, David Silva showed enough strength to see off Kiko Feminia and win the duel. The Spanish International won that battle and had enough time to pick out a spot. Silva slotted the ball inside the back of the net in the far post to hand over them the lead in the 26th minute. Little bit of deflection from Cathcart took the ball away from goalkeeper Gomes.
Abdoulaye Doucouré was culpable for that goal as he gave the ball away go easily. It lead to the buildup of the goal.
