Juan Martin del Potro confronted a fan during his French Open quarterfinal against Marin Cilic. The incident happened during the second set, with the scoreline poised at 4-4.
del Potro hit a double fault in the deciding moment of the game, which led to Cilic leading the set 5-4. After the double fault, del Potro turned to fan, who he believed disturbed him during his serve. The tennis star exchanged some words with him. del Potro eventually lost the second set.
The chair umpire intervened to calm the situation, and the Argentine player exchanged some words with him. del Potro returned to his chair and smashed his racquet in anger.
The whole incident garnered applause for del Potro on the court, while people on the social media showed their anger at the fan’s indiscipline.

However, del Potro recovered well from the setback in the second set, and went on to win the next two as he made his place in the semifinal of the French Open.
The Argentine star now faces defending champion and current world no. 1 Rafael Nadal on court Philippe-Chatrier.
Rafael Nadal defeated Diego Schwartzman in another quarterfinal, which was resumed today after the play was suspended yesterday due to rain. After a poor start, Nadal recovered well to defeat Schwartzman 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
In other semifinal, Dominic Thiem will face Marco Cecchinato of Italy. The Italian tennis player defeated Novak Djokovic to make his place in the semifinal of the French Open.
