CSK vs RR Man of the Match: Who was awarded Man of the Match in CSK vs RR as Dwayne Bravo won it for CSK in the final over

It was the MS Dhoni show in Chennai today, as on a tricky pitch, the CSK captain took the game away from RR with a brilliant 75. Dhoni absorbed the pressure initially, taking the innings deep and then exploding right at the end to help his side post 175 in 20 overs.

In the second innings, with dew making it extremely difficult for the bowlers, CSK did a fantastic job of keeping things in check, until Ben Stokes decided to go into overdrive and challenge CSK’s total.

However, DJ Bravo kept his nerve at the end, defending 12 off the last over brilliantly and gifting CSK  a hard fought win in the most trying of conditions.

CSK vs RR Man of the Match

MS Dhoni was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant performance with the bat, taking CSK to a highly competitive total even when the entire top order had failed. The partnership between him and Raina, one where they bided their time and waited for the storm to pass held the key for CSK.

Dhoni spoke about how it was important to get a partnership going at that stage and then see as to what sort of a total was possible towards the end of the game.

We wanted to get a partnership going. We knew there was some dew on the field. We knew it would get easier as the game progresses, We bat quite deep. We could accelerate in the last few overs, and we wanted to get a partnership going.” Dhoni said.

He then went onto shed some light on the changes that were made for this game and why Mitchell Santer was bought into the mix at the expense of Harbhajan Singh.

“We have a stable XI and there were a lot less left-handers in the opposition, so we gave Mitch Santner a go. It isn’t that important to make changes if not necessary. As the tournament progresses everyone will get more chances. As the tournament progresses, bowlers start executing their plans much better.” Dhoni said.
