Diogo Dalot made a touching gesture to his first-ever football club from the salary he received at Manchester United.

The Portuguese defender joined Manchester United in the summer from FC Porto, where he spent the entirety of his professional career.

Dalot was one of the only three Manchester United signings in the summer.

In the limited chances he has had in the red shirt so far, Dalot has managed to impress the club’s fans.

The defender has now made a touching gesture to his first-ever football club. He surprised his team by a rather special present in the club’s car park.

Diogo Dalot began his football journey with the Fintas Football School, where he spent most of his formative years as a footballer. At the age of 9, he joined the youth ranks of FC Porto.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper A. Bola, Fintas Football School’s CEO Luis Travassos made a heartwarming revelation about Diogo Dalot.

The defender used a portion of his wages at Manchester United to gift the school a team bus.

“We spoke to Diogo by Skype. He was on the (Manchester United) coach on his way to the match,” Travassos said.

He told us to go outside, where we found a bus for the club.

“It was certainly a shock! He prepared everything secretly and saved a part of his first salary in England for the surprise.”

He further insisted that the gesture was enormous for their institution, which lacks financial resources.

“To us, an institution with so many financial problems and so little resources, the gift was enormous.

“Every bit of help we receive is wonderful.”

Travassos further stated that there are 10 more footballers who joined Porto’s youth ranks from their institution. He hopes to receive a contribution from the football club in return.

“I hope Porto and Pinto da Costa (Porto’s president) might contribute to a juvenile institution like ourselves, after Diogo’s transfer to Manchester United for €24million.

“He (Da Costa) even has 10 more players originating from our academy.”
