Earlier in the night, Big E had been attacked backstage before Kofi’s scheduled match with Sami Zayn. Kofi walked out with rage, assuming that this was Zayn’s doing.
The two had a rather good back and forth before Kofi prevailed over Zayn with a Trouble in Paradise. The Dreadlocked Dynamo’s celebrations didn’t last long though as Paul Heyman walked out with the Money in the Bank briefcase. The advocate teased a Cash in by Brock Lesnar. Kofi stood in the middle of the ring, ready for the challenge.

However,
It wasn’t Brock that did the demolishing this time. Dolph Ziggler attacked Kofi Kingston from behind and savagely assaulted him. He raked his eyes as he hung him by the turnbuckle. Ziggler placed a chair over Kofi’s head and smashed it over the announce table.

The show off knee’d his head from behind and finally stopped when the referees came running out. A medical team showed up as well carry the brutalized champion. However, Ziggler came back to get one last hit in. Dolph chased the doctors away and placed a chair over Kingston’s head before stomping it one more time.
Kofi gets carried out by the medical team on a stretcher. But out of sheer heart and pride, the WWE Champion gets up. He then proceeds to limp away to the back without any assistance.
Ziggler will face Kofi for the WWE Championship at the WWE Super Showdown. WWE Super Showdown will stream live on the WWE Network on June 7.
