Dota 2 Hero Guide: Top 5 mid-lane heroes of Patch 7.28 to easily gain MMR in Dota 2 Pub games. The mid-lane role is vital in Dota 2. Check out the top 5 heroes of Patch 7.28 to play and stomp your pubs matches, and easily gain MMR.

After the new changes in Dota 2 Patch 7.28, we take a look at the best mid-lane heroes. These heroes are very good in the lower brackets of the MMR tree. If you learn to play these heroes well, and get good at the mechanics, you can stomp your pub games.

The trick to winning mid-lane is to have a pool of 5-7 heroes you have mastered. If you try playing many different heroes, your opponent will be able to out-farm you, as you are still not familiar with the mechanics. So, the key is to have a few heroes you have complete knowledge about, and then spam them in the mid-lane to out-scale & out-farm your opposite number.

Top 5 mid-lane heroes to pick in Patch 7.28

These 5 heroes given below are not in any particular order. All of them are equally good, and the trick is to make sure you do not pick them into heavy counters. So, here is a list of the top 5 mid-lane heroes for you to master to increase your MMR.

1. Batrider

Despite getting a few nerfs, the one big change that pushes Batrider into the 7.28 meta hero list is the sticky napalm change. Sticky napalm no longer does less damage to creeps, and this can be exploited heavily while farming stacks of jungle camps. Batrider can take out a 4-time stacked Ancient Camp by himself at level 7. This translates into a faster Boots of travel, allowing you to be a constant threat all around the map, even when Flaming Lasso is on Cooldown.

2. Puck

The most amazing thing about Puck in patch 7.28 is that you can play him as a physical damage hero or a magical damage hero, depending on your enemy’s lineup. The talent tree for the Faerie Dragon has been buffed, and the new items which have been added like Witch’s blade only help him dish out more damage. The best part is the Aghanim’s shard, which knock backs enemies by 250 units, synergizing perfectly with Dream Coil.

3. Death Prophet

Despite a lot of neglect, Death Prophet in the mid-lane is still one of the best tower pushers in the game, apart form maybe Broodmother. The Aghanim’s shard also lets her siphon off armor from enemies, making them vulnerable to physical damage. She is incredibly fast at taking towers, and can single handedly create all the space you may need in the map. She is also good at making rotations, and can easily secure kills on low HP heroes with a maxed out crypt swarm.

4. Invoker

Despite many changes to other heroes, Invoker still manages to find himself on this list. He has a high intelligence gain per level. Chaos Meteor damage has been increased, making it easier to push out lanes which are shoving into your towers. The standard Quas Exort Invoker is still relevant and is to be feared. The Witch Blade is a very good buy on Invoker as it helps you dish out so much more damage in lesser time.

5. Void Spirit/Storm Spirit/ Ember Spirit

The three spirit brothers are a nightmare to face up against in the mid-lane. Each of them have their own unique way of clearing creeps fast, and blocking damage while doing so. Once they hit level 6, they become extremely mobile and lethal. They do not need the help of teammates to secure kills, and can even roam super early to help out side-lanes which are not going in their team’s favor.
