5MEN put together their roster less than 4 months ago after Cloud9 and OG.Seed dropped their rosters earlier this year. However, their campaign in the professional Dota 2 scene has not lasted long. 5MEN came to existence on the 30th of July when Rasmus “MISERY” Filipsen and Johan “pieliedie” Åström came together with two former OG.Seed player and with Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard.
Why did 5MEN’s roster disband?
In their first online tournament, the OMEGA League, they dropped down to the second division. Even in the EPIC League, they were relegated to the 2nd division.
In the first series, they lost 2-1 to the former TEMPO lineup, which is now competing without a sponsor. After the loss, the roster did not even show up to their next game against Gambit Esports. Earlier today, EPIC League made the official announcement of 5MEN’s withdrawal from the event.
The team’s mid-lane player Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin took to Twitter to set the record straight and clarify the reasons why the team had to bow out of the competition.
5men is no more, the motivation in the team was really low and I am honestly impressed with the results we had despite lack of practice. Thanks to the team for the run! I am excited for the future and will be looking for a new team to sink my teeth into, my DM’s are open 1/2

Despite impressive starts against top-tier team, 5MEN lacks the experience the other teams have. However, they did give some of the top tier teams a run for their money, by being fierce competitors.
