Eden Hazard injury update: Will the Real Madrid star play in the El Clasico vs Barcelona? The Belgian Playmaker injured his ankle vs PSG in the Champions League.

Eden Hazard has overcome a slow start to life in the Spanish Capital to become an integral member of Zinedine Zidane’s side. Real Madrid are chasing a first La Liga title after losing out to Barcelona in the last 2 seasons. They are also looking to become UCL contenders after their disappointing run last season.

The Belgian was brought in to the Bernabeu for that exact reason. While the former Chelsea star initially struggled to fit in, he has gradually become an indispensable member. He is vital to Real Madrid’s chances if they are to succeed this season.

His impact can be observed from the fact that in the 8 matches that Hazard has played in the La Liga, Real Madrid are yet to lose and have won 6 of the 8 matches. In his absence however, they have only won 3 out of their 6 games.

With the La Liga being very closely fought between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the moment, Hazard will be extremely crucial to Los Blancos’ chances. However, it appears that the playmaker may miss out on his first El Clasico.

Eden Hazard injury update

Hazard was seen limping out of the match against PSG in the Champions League. He was initially diagnosed with a bruised thigh and was expected to be out for only 10 days. However, it seems that he will now be out for close to 4 to 6 weeks.

Real Madrid issued a statement on Hazard’s injury on Thursday:

“Following tests carried out on our player, Eden Hazard, by Real Madrid’s medical department, the development of the perimalleolar bruising in his right leg has seen him diagnosed with an incomplete external microfracture in the aforementioned area.”

It is likely that Hazard has played his last match of 2019 . He will potentially miss the matches against Valencia, Athletic and Barcelona, the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia and the Liga clash against Sevilla at the Bernabéu.
